Wake up and see there’s a new day dawning;
wake up and smile when you see me yawning,
aren’t you thankful for sleep and a charge to keep,
aren’t you happy to be alive?

Wake up and leave all the dreams behind you;
wake up and let real adventure find you,
Aren’t you thankful for friends and these hours to spend,
aren’t you happy to be alive?

Tell the world “Good Morning”, spread a little sheer all over the place,
and if you’re feeling sleepy, I’ll throw a little ice cold water in your face.

Wake up and shine ‘cause you know you’re special,
wake up and be at your very best,
you’ll find each moment you live you’ve a lot to give
when you’re happy to be alive, so you’d better wake up!

We sold the Cocker Spaniel to Margaret McDaniel,
our hampsters and our mice are looking sick.
It isn’t time for puppies and I’m afraid our guppies are floating with a nasty case of “ich”

So how’s about a Boa? He’d like to get to know ya.
He’s easy to please and never gets fleas,
He’ll show you his affection with a little squeeze.
So how’s about a Boa? He’d like to get to know ya,
you can wear a smile with your own reptile.

A little girl was smitten with Muff, our only kitten,
she came and took her home with her last night.
Our pair of prize canaries was bought by the McClarys,
and we haven’t taught the monkey not to bite.

So how’s about a Boa? He’d like to get to know ya.
He’s cute as a bug, he won’t wet the rug,
he’ll show you his affection with a little hug.
So how’s about a Boa? He’d like to get to know ya,

oh, for goodness sake, won’t you buy this snake? Do do do do do do do do do do,
Oh, for goodness sake, won’t you buy this snake?

Aslan Is Near

Once a boy named Shasta was riding on a horse
in a foggy darkness on a lonely mountain road;
Feeling sorry for himself and fighting back a tear,
his mind was filled with all the trouble he had known that year.

Suddenly he froze with fright as something caught his eye,
walking there beside the horse, a giant of some kind.
Who was this fellow traveler, what was He going to do?
This stranger in the mist, before long Shasta knew…

How near can He be? He’s walking by your side.
How near can He be? He’s living right there in your heart.
You’re never going anywhere that He won’t be there too,
aren’t you glad that Aslan is near?

All of us, like Shasta, have known some trouble too,
times when we have felt alone and cried out for some help.
No matter I can’t see Him now, He’s promised to be near.
He’s walking right beside me casting out my fear.

How near can He be? He’s walking by my side.
How near can He be? He’s living right here in my heart.
I’m never going anywhere that He won’t be there too,
I’m so glad that Aslan is near!

Pennies

Annie puts a penny on that sidewalk there,
secret little hiding place she chose with care,
Arrows drawn with chalk will tell a stranger where
there is hidden treasure.
Annie scrawls a message there for all to see:
“There is money up ahead and it’s all free,
cradled in the cranny of a hollow tree is a big surprise for you!”

Open your ears and listen, open you eyes and see.
Unwrapped gifts and free surprises, they’re all meant for you and me.
All the world is strewn with pennies cast
From a Generous Hand, untold wealth is there at your command.

Annie doesn’t wait around so she can see
who the lucky winner of her coin will be;
She’s content to let it be a mystery
and find true joy in giving.
I would like to be like Annie through and through;
help me, Lord, to find some “Penny” things to do
and be looking for the gifts, my whole life through that
You shower on me with love…

Patience

Patience is a virtue, my son.
Patience is a virtue and don’t you forget it, all
Things work together for a righteous man,
Patience is virtue, my son.

Bright eyes on a winter’s night looking for Santa to come.
“Hey mom, look at all those gifts, please let me open some.”
Then his mother smiles down and takes him in her arms,
and there in the fire’s glow, she tells him what he ought to know

Eager eyes in the spring of life looking for his own true love.
“Hey, dad, where can she be, that girl all others above?
Will she ever come my way and how am I to know?”
Then his father takes his hand and reminds his handsome man that

Then come the summer years, his eyes are filled tears.
Will he ever make the top and conquer all his fears?
Will his years of toil pay off and will his ship come in?
Then he looks into the mirror and he shouts out loud and clear:

Tired eyes in the Autumn time looking for his journey’s end.
All his friends have gone before to wait in Heaven’s land.
“Nothing’s keeping me down here” he says impatiently,
then a voice comes soft and low bringing word from long ago….

Emerald Cove, Emerald Cove,
where giant mosquitoes rove,
and something’s burning on the stove at
Emerald Cove, my Emerald Cove.

Crowded cabin, swayback bunk, my bed is covered with my room mates junk;
Boy, his dirty socks sure stunk at Emerald Cove, my Emerald Cove.

I sit alone most every night holding hands with my flashlight,
can’t you picture my terrible plight at Emerald Cove, my Emerald Cove.

They taught me how to water ski, my first wipe out was a sight to see,
my swimming suit was floatin’ free at Emerald Cove, my Emerald Cove.

These Are The Trees

These are the trees of the Alpine Zone, the Chaparral and River Zones, too.
Singing this song as you are hiking along will make remembering easy to do.

Ponderosa Pine, long needles in threes, smells like Vanilla on the summer breeze,
Short needles in fives on the Sugar Pine, small puzzle bark is a lookin’ fine.
Douglas Fir with needles in rows, the Christmas Tree that everybody knows.
Incense Cedar has scales, you know, smells like Dickens to the Mo-squito;
Of all the Conifers we haveknown, these are a few in the Alpine Zone.

In the Alpine Zone and the Chaparral, the Big Black Oak can chooses to dwell.
Only in the latter does the Scrub Oak live, where Coulter Pine needs big shade to give. Canyon Live Oak with two shades of green, hanging on the edge of the desert scene.
Dig those Mountain Mahogany, make the strongest arrows that could possibly be. Chaparral trees Have nowhere to hide, they’re all living on the sunny side.

Down by the river, the Riparian Zone is where stately Poplars make their home. Look
at those Quaking Aspen trees, shaking their arms as big as you please.
Big Alder groves drinking all that water don’t send their roots down as deep as they oughter. Little Willows are weeping there, ‘cause when Winter comes they have nothing to wear. These are trees that are river buddies living in fear of occasional “floodies.”

The Vegetable Song

We used to have some fine young friends,
we’ll surely miss them at our dinner table;
their passing we commemorate,
condemned to eat the things we hate,
And every one a dreaded vegetable.

Such a terrible sight to see, a lethal dose of broccoli consumed by Lori just the other day. And did you hear that Jimmy’s gone, we all know who to blame it on,
that bowl of stewed tomatoes had the last say.

Debbie choked on lima beans, Rick succumbed to Spinach greens, and Bill, he died from just one bite of chard. Freddy downed one brussels sprout, it did him in and wiped
him out, he’s buried in the garden in our back yard.

Poor Leanne was such a dear, she died from eating beets, I fear, and eggplant it was
Jonathan’s demise. Nasty old asparagus, it went and did away with Chris,
an artichoke killed Ron, I’m telling no lies.

Now, you can argue all you please, but David died from eating peas, and carrots are what sealed Barry’s fate. Cathy spent her final hour chewing bites of cauliflower,
The intravenous Hagen-Dazs was too late.

Popcorn

Once upon a field back in Nebraska somewhere I commenced with my initial year.
I flourished in a silky cradle luxurious, me, I did not have a fear.
I was a model kernel in those days when our stalk was vernal,
always tried to do my best to keep in line there upon the family ear.

In the autumn we were amputated one day and dehydrated in the sun;
under sultry skies awaited marketing time, that crowded crib was not much fun.
It really was a shocker, along came Orville Redebocker,
he placed us in a crystalline receptacle and shipped us off to Albertsons.

Our incarceration lasted nearly a year, and then one day our lid unscrewed;
they poured us in a greasy pan that started to shake, the temperature was truly rude.
I started feeling bloated, then I discovered I’d exploded; thus the culmination of my history: I ended up by being chewed. The last thing I remember just before I died:
they sprinkled me with lots of sodium chloride.

The S’More

A fresh marshmallow, fluffy white, tonight he’s headed for the flame;
stick him over red hot coals, poor little guy won’t be the same.
He’s turning brown, no turning back; if you’re not careful, he’ll turn black,
now he’s ready for the crackers and the candy bar.

He’s delicious, he’s a S’more, he’s what you finished your supper for.
He’s our favorite Campfire fun, I betcha you can’t eat just one.
Mister Hershey and Mister Graham, they cannot take all the blame for this evening time addiction that has snared us all…….

All that chocolate on your lips, the sticky on your fingertips,
those extra inches on your hips,
Hey, let’s us some more, who wouldn’t like a S’more,
let’s hear it for the S’more!

Darkness is falling and we’ve gathered lots of wood, soon a fire will be glowing; we’ll recall each moment of the day while campfire shadows play.

And I see the flames that flicker in the night, and I see you smiling in the firelight, and my heart is singing, everything’s all right ‘round the campfire. Do do do
Do do do do do do do Boom boom boom…….Boom!

If it is really true smoke follows beauty please tell me why my eyes are burning, I
don’t want to give you guys a scare but this place has lots of bears…

I’m getting sleepy and I’m smilin’ to myself ‘cause it’s your turn to fix breakfast;
I could sit and sing the whole night long this happy campfire song.
